Las Flores… Tienen el Control is a publication by CSB Fine Arts celebrating the latest exhibition of Carlos Ayala Barreto, currently on view at I AM ART Puerto Rico in San Juan. Carlos's paintings are built around a recurring cast of symbols — bears, eyes, dragons, flowers, skulls — each one carrying personal and universal meaning. Together they form a visual language that moves through questions of memory, identity, ego, mortality, and transformation. This publication explores those symbols, reflects on selected works from the exhibition, and offers a closer look at the ideas that run through his practice.
The reflections in this publication represent my personal observations and are offered as an invitation to explore the symbolic language and themes present in Carlos Ayala's work.
