CSB Fine Arts Opens Inaugural Exhibition: Essence of Being by Samuel E. Vázquez
Brooklyn, NY — October 2, 2025 — CSB Fine Arts is proud to announce the opening of its first exhibition, Essence of Being, featuring new works by Puerto Rican–born, artist Samuel E. Vázquez. This exhibition marks a milestone for CSB Fine Arts, which is dedicated to presenting contemporary Latin American voices that shape today’s cultural landscape.
Vázquez, who first made his mark in the 1980s graffiti movement, draws from the visual language of urban walls, hip-hop culture, and the improvisational spirit of the city. His abstract canvases pulse with energy, layering gesture, form, and rhythm to transform personal memory into universal expression. Influences of jazz and hip-hop echo throughout his compositions, where spontaneity and control meet in a dynamic dialogue.
To date, Vázquez’s paintings have been featured in more than 35 solo and group exhibitions at galleries and cultural institutions including Clowes Memorial Hall of Butler University, the Madam Walker Legacy Center, the Indiana State Museum, the Herron and Marsh Galleries of Indiana University, and the Dean Johnson Gallery—all in Indianapolis—as well as the Beard Arts Center of Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, and the Grace Gallery in Brooklyn, New York City.
The opening reception will take place on October 2, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the gallery’s new Dumbo location:
CSB Fine Arts
81 Prospect Street, Room 104
Brooklyn, NY 11201
Essence of Being celebrates both the launch of CSB Fine Arts’ first permanent space and Samuel E. Vázquez’s ongoing exploration of identity, history, and the ever-shifting energy of urban life.
