Retrospective: Poetic Reflection: at The Richard E. Peeler Art Center - 10 W. Hanna St., Green

 

New York, NY — CSB Fine Arts is pleased to announce Samuel E Vázquez: Poetic Reflection, a major retrospective exhibition by our artist Samuel E Vázquez, on view from January 26 through June 24, 2026, at the Richard E. Peeler Art Center, DePauw University, in Greencastle, Indiana.

 

The exhibition presents a comprehensive survey of Vázquez’s practice, featuring paintings (2011–2025), photographs (1979–2019), and a new installation (2026). Together, these works trace the evolution of an artist whose practice is grounded in material exploration, memory, and the enduring idea of home.

 

Rooted in the cultural landscape of New York City and informed by decades of lived experience, Vázquez’s work transforms overlooked materials and markings into poetic reflections on personal history, community, and belonging. Poetic Reflection offers an expansive view of his artistic language across time and media.

An Artist Talk and Exhibition Reception will take place on Tuesday, February 17. The talk begins at 4:30 pm in the Peeler Auditorium, followed by a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the Upper Level Gallery of the Peeler Art Center. Admission is free and open to the public.

 

During the talk, Vázquez will share personal insight into his upbringing and artistic journey. The conversation will be moderated by D. Lyle Dechant, Curator of Exhibitions and University Collections at the Peeler Art Center, DePauw University.
