BIOGRAPHY
Andrés Barragán, born in Buenos Aires in 1948, embarked on a multifaceted creative journey. His artistic education commenced at the ACE (Experimental Cinema Association), where he delved into the craft of filmmaking, producing both documentary and fiction short films. During this period, he also ventured into the realm of photography, honing his skills in capturing images of various artworks. Simultaneously, Barragán cultivated his musical talents, performing as an oboist in various musical ensembles. His artistic versatility extended further into acting, encompassing theater, cinema, and television roles. As a photographer, Barragán became a chronicler of the theatrical productions that graced Buenos Aires over the past three decades. His evocative photographs found their way into diverse domestic and international publications and have become prized possessions in numerous private collections. In 2004, he received a nomination from the UBA (World Theater Award 2004) for his outstanding work as a theatrical photographer in Griselda Gambaro's production of "La Señora Macbeth." This recognition was followed by another accolade in 2006 from the UBA (World Theater Award 2006), acknowledging his excellence as a theatrical photographer for his contributions to Ricardo Bartís' play, "La Pesca." Since 1994, Barragán has served as the photographer for the National Academy of Fine Arts, further cementing his position as a respected and prolific figure in the world of photography and the arts.
